Adoption
Looking for Homes
The Animal Welfare League has many wonderful pets looking for forever homes. If you are interested in adopting a companion animal, please check out our available pets by clicking on any of the links to the right. If you don’t see your perfect pet, please keep checking! We will post pictures and information of pets as soon as they come in. You can also call the Animal Welfare League office at 970-641-1173 or send an email to adopt-foster@gvawl.org if you are looking for a specific type or breed.
To adopt an animal please complete the Adoption Application; in addition, we suggest reading our Adoption Information Packet provided below. A volunteer will contact you and review your application. All potential adopters are screened to ensure that there is no history of animal neglect or abuse.
Adoption Fees
The adoption fee is one way we subsidize the cost of caring for our rescued pets, it also serves one other function. The adoption fee will put off anybody who is not willing to spend money on properly caring for his or her companion animal. The sad reality is that if someone cannot afford a $50 – $150 adoption fee, then they are unlikely to be able to afford care for a companion when he falls ill or has an accident. Saving the money it takes to adopt a dog is a lot easier than having $500.00 cash in hand when something goes wrong and medical attention is necessary.
