Foster Care
GVAWL foster homes are critical to the success of our Animal Placement program. Foster homes provide our only way to keep rescued animals until they can be placed in a forever home.
If you decide to become a foster provider, the Animal Welfare League will provide the items necessary for your foster pet (bowls, leashes, litter boxes, etc.). As it is possible, we will provide food and litter for the animal. We often receive donations of food and litter which greatly help with caring for foster pets.
In addition to providing love and a temporary home, our fosterers are the best people to provide helpful information on the pet’s personality, temperament, etc. The more information we have on each pet, the easier it is to find the best fit home for him or her. If you are currently a foster provider, please take a moment to see what information exists about your foster animals on the web and then email the Animal Welfare League at adopt-foster@gvawl.org so that your new observations or pictures can be added to the website!
Home Visit & Interview Process
Before fostering a pet for the first time, and for your safety and well-being as well as the animal’s, GVAWL will schedule a home visit and an in-person interview by an Animal Welfare League volunteer. It is our responsibility to ensure that all animals are placed in safe foster homes.
